Finance manager

Republic Publishing is a young and vibrant internet business. We create content which captures the imagination of brand audiences, compelling them to read, watch, share and discuss.

We need a capable Finance Manager to join our team and actively help us to develop and grow. You will be strategic and forward-looking as well as a hand’s on completer of tasks and taker of responsibility.

We have a relatively low number of monthly transactions, but we need them processed quickly and brilliantly to inform best-in-class monthly management reports. You’ll be expected to enhance and develop our existing purchasing systems and controls, maintain a straight forward credit control system and be the key liaison with our accountancy supplier.

You’ll be comfortable responding to purchase requests on email or phone, charming and polite when speaking to our customers and have a stellar grip on all aspects of our finances.

This is a part-time role (20 hours per week initially) with the potential to grow and develop over time. You’ll mostly be based at our office in Farringdon, but with a set of hours that work as well for you as they do for us. We’re actively flexible and adaptable, within reason, and there is opportunity for some of this work to be carried out from home.

You’re already an experienced finance manager who’s spent time in a hand’s on role within an SME.

Responsibilities include

• Monthly Management Financial Reports (P&L and trial balance) and quarterly deep dive reports (account profitability, spending reviews etc)
• Financial analysis and recommendations for spending/profitability
• Budget Management and Cash Flow forecasting
• Overseeing year-end processing
• Liaising with external professional bodies
• Payroll Management
• Bank Reconciliation and management
• Credit Card and Expense Management
• Creating and sending sales orders and invoices
• Credit control and debtor management

You’ll be expected to provide a customer focused management accounting service which meets business needs, informing and assisting management actions and decisions and  ensuring resources are utilized effectively and budgets are adhered to.
