Here’s what I do
I work with Nokia offices and delivery partners across the world to help deliver foreign language editions of the site. These aren’t just translations, though: we’re keen to make sure that each site is customised to the local marketplace, media trends and expectations of what a Nokia blog should deliver. At the same time, we want to be sure that we’re delivering consistent messages, that we’re ‘on brand’ and that the content development strategy is consistent, ensuring that customers across the world get the same quality of experience.
In practise, that means heavyweight project management, lots of emails and phone calls, and trying to make sure that there’s always time for some writing.
Stuff you need to know!
Who is your creative hero?
Tony Hart. He taught us that art is something everyone can do
Greatest regret?
I can’t do art. Tony Hart was a fucking liar. I don’t really believe in having regrets, though. Just as much as what you did do, what you didn’t do makes you who you are. Love that person. His/her foibles are what makes a person human and loveable
Favourite book?
Don’t know. I re-read The Great Gatsby every year
Favourite person?
My wife
Favourite place?
Either my bed or St Mark’s Square in Venice
Favourite meal
I love old-fashioned school-dinner food. Pie and chips. Ham and eggs. Full-engish breakfast. Syrup pudding
Paris or New York?
Paris
Black Sabbath or Blue Monday?
Blue Monday
Kelly Clarkson or Katy Perry?
Who?
Secret vice?
My vices are all very public
If you were to be granted one super-power, what would it be?
Tricky. Flying would be awesome, but on balance I think invisibility would be the most fun. Oh wait – that one where you can stretch your body like Mr Fantastic. That would be cool
You are one of the older members of the team. What have you learned?
Nothing. I have attained no wisdom. You just decay and die
