Here’s what I do
As chairman I help JBC and Mike get their eyes up from the grindstone on regular basis to see where RP is going, how that compares to what we expected, what we are going to do about it and by when.

The key is accurate and timely info, realistic regularly reviewed targets and budgets, along with detailed understanding of both by the execs involved. Like all small businesses (and nowadays big ones too!) a relentless focus on cash is important, particularly if (like JBC and Mike) you come from a large company where cash flow was rarely discussed.
