I've not looked at plurk (or twitter come to that, although I'm getting more tempted by the day)... I seem to have nested in Facebook and that does me for now.

Unless it's radically different from Twitter, I fear they may have missed the boat - the critical mass have accepted Twitter and now it'll be too much hassle for most to change (as your colleague has demonstrated). If Facebook or Twitter can combine the popular features of eachother or any new upstart, there'll be little chance of a new contender taking over I reckon. The key for all these services is who else is using it - if all your mates are on facebook for instance, you're probaby not going to enjoy "plurking" or whatever.

Having said that, I never thought I'd stoop to using Facebook and now I'm on it everyday - I sneered at Twitter and now I'm interested in some of the people who are Tweeting and for that reason want to join up so it shows that my opinion is usually the opposite of what will happen... buy your Plurk shares now!!!
